Uma das faixas do novo álbum de Iggy Pop, “Preliminaires” (preliminares), será “How Insensitive”, versão em inglês de “Insensatez”, de Antônio Carlos Jobim. O CD chegará ao Brasil no dia 18 de maio pela EMI.
Nesse trabalho, Iggy se afasta do punk rock e se volta para o jazz.
“É um álbum mais tranquilo com alguns harmônicos de jazz”, disse Iggy em um vídeo. “Isso é porque chegou um certo momento em que simplesmente fiquei enjoado de ouvir brutamontes idiotas com suas guitarras, tocando música ruim.”
Para compor esse disco, o músico se inspirou em Louis Armstrong e jazz no estilo de Jelly Roll Morton, e no romancista francês Michel Houellebecq, autor de “A Possibilidade de uma Ilha”.
“Ele [o livro] fala sobre morte, sexo, o fim da raça humana e também sobre outras coisas bastante engraçadas (…). Li o livro de forma verdadeiramente prazerosa, assim que ele foi lançado, e, na minha cabeça, estava compondo as músicas que seriam a trilha sonora da minha alma ao ler aquela história”, explica.

Pra acabar com o jejum, e voltando às minhas raízes neste blog, mando aqui um Jazz Fusion/Rock de uma qualidade superior à tradicional “melhor qualidade”…
essa banda alemã faz um fusion carregado: muito piano, uma guitarra fuzz pesada, e elementos space, alguns metais e flautas pontuais. e improvisos… muitos improvisos. tudo isso faz do som dos caras uma coisa sem bem diferente.
fora que neste disco, diferente de algumas outras coisas de fusion, tudo começa a partir standards de jazz… bem interessante.
com certeza, está no top 10 de fusion q eu conheço…

Gravando nos US e tratando de rituais indigenas nossos (dedicado aos Xingu, onde diz que ele viveu um tempo), Egberto Gismonti solta em 77 outro grande disco. Segue um pouco a onde do Dança das Cabeças, acho que se pode dizer algo assim..

Com Naná Vasconcelos na percussão, Ralph Towner no violão de 12 cordas, Collin Walcott na tabla e Jan Garbarek no sax, não tinha muito como não sair uma obra prima.

Egberto Gismonti was born in 1947 in Carmo, Brazil. He began his formal music studies at the age of six on piano. After studying classical music for 15 years, he went to Paris to study with Nadia Boulanger (orchestration and analysis), and composer Jean Barraqué, a disciple of Schönberg and Webern. Returning to Brazil, Gismonti began to glimpse a reality broader than the classical world of music. He was attracted by Ravel’s ideas of orchestration and chord voicings, as well as by “choro”, a Brazilian instrumental popular music where varied kinds of guitars are featured. To play this music he made the transition from piano to guitar, beginning on the 6-string classical instrument and switching to the 8-string guitar in 1973. He spent two years experimenting with different tunings and searching for new sounds, which is also reflected in his use of flutes, kalimbas, sho, voice, bells, etc. By the early ’70s, he had laid the groundwork for his current conception was listening to musicians as wide-ranging as Django Reinhardt and Jimi Hendrix… For him, Hendrix’s achievements were proof that “popular” and “serious” idioms need not remain opposite poles: “There’s no difference between the two kinds of music…”. Gismonti’s first ECM record Dance Das Cabecas (ECM 1089), and a duet set featuring percussionist Nana Vasconcelos, dating from 1977, was nominated Album Of The Year by Stereo Review and received the “Großer Deutscher Schallplattenpreis”. Sol Do Meio Dia (ECM 1116) found the duo augmented by saxophonist Jan Garbarek, percussionist Collin Walcott and guitarist Ralph Towner; the session following on a tour featuring Gismonti, the Belonging Quartet and Oregon. Gismonti dedicated this album to the Xingu Indians of the Amazon, with whom he had lived for a period of time in the jungle. On his following 1979 ECM recording “Solo” (ECM 1136), he plays 8-string guitar, piano and bells, expressing a pure and comprehensive view of his music.
Tha next album to present Gismonti was a trio recording entitled Magico (ECM 1151) with bassist Charlie Haden and saxophonist Jan Garbarek, recorded in 1979. The same year, the trio toured Europe, including a concert at the Berlin Jazz Festival, and recorded a second Magico album, entitled Folksongs (ECM 1170). In 1981, Gismonti again toured with Haden and Garbarek, performing throughout Europe.
The album Sanfona (ECM 1203/04), is related to the Brazilian roots of his music. It features both group and solo work within the context of a single release. On the first record of his two-disc set, Gismonti is joined by his Brazilian group Academia De Danças: Mauro Senise (saxophone and flutes), Zeca Assumpçao (bass) and Nene (drums and percussion). On the solo disc, the emphasis is more decidedly on his guitar playing and on Indian organ improvisation. In his liner notes for Sanfona, Geraldo Carneiro characterizes Gismonti’s offeirng as “a trip through Brazilian rhythms, musical forms and popular festivals… symbolizing Brazilian culture in all its breadth from solemn to burlesque”.
Duas Vozes (ECM 1279) with Nana Vasconcelos appeared in 1984. Today Gismonti strives to bring two influences together, Western Europe music and the music from Brazil. Dança Dos Escravos (ECM 1387), released in 1989, takes him a step further in the direction where the distinction between “serious” and “popular” music doesn’t play any role. His melodic lines have a special, cantible uniqueness. In harmonic terms, Gismonti has found a way of combining two cultures, such as one might also find in the music of Villa-Lobos, Baden Powell or Joao Gilberto. Primeiro disco gravado ao vivo do HOT TUNA, conta com o Will Scarlett na gaita destruindo. Neguinho que não foi nunca oficialmente integrado na banda mas que volta e meia aparecia com os cara por ai.. Disquinho este que está entre os 3 melhores deles. Seguro.

Дельфин – чуть ли не единственный отечественный музыкант, признавшийся, что у него нет музыкального слуха. Впрочем, в выбранном им рэп-жанре его наличие не обязательно. Внешностью Дельфин тоже не выделяется – худощавый сутуловатый молодой человек, разве что татуировок много. Тем не менее, культивирование каналом “MTV-Россия” музыки бормочущих афроамериканцев сделало свое дело – стиль стал популярен и в нашей северной стране, а Дельфин выбился в кумиры молодежи.

Он суперзвезда российской альтернативной музыкальной культуры, его альбомы расходятся по стране огромными тиражами, его стихи знают наизусть тысячи людей, для которых его творчество стало философией жизни. Дельфин.
Новая работа одного из мастеров хип-хопа и видного деятеля альтернативной культуры (если у нас таковая имеется), разменявшего с годами чувство беспредельного эротизма и кровоточащую агрессию на депрессивный прагматизм, монотонное занудство и размеренное времяпрепровождение под чужие сэмплы.
То, что долго и упорно вымучивалось на “Глубине Резкости” и “Тканях”, наконец, нашло свое воплощение на треках “Звезды”. Из рвавшего на груди рубашку за право жить воинствующего бунтаря Дельфин превратился в склонного к суициду тихого романтика, бормочущего под нос замороченные тексты про любовь.
Ни для кого не секрет, что Дельфин давно безжалостно пользуется результатами чужого труда в моменты создания своих концептуальных композиций; попросту говоря, – тырит сэмплы (чего сам и не скрывает) и лепит из них свои боевики. Не стала исключением и “Звезда”, музыкальная составляющая которой насквозь пронизана достижениями других музыкантов (особое внимание Дельфин в этот раз уделил творчеству Placebo). Призрачное мелькание то тут, то там уже где-то светившихся гитарно-электронных ходов, конечно, настораживает, но их гармоничная игра с посторонними шумами, стереоэффектами и лирикой, перегруженной эпитетами и фразеологизмами, выливается во вполне целостное и оригинальное творение.
Несмотря на всю серьезность намерений по части смыслового содержания альбома, лучшим треком пластинки все-таки является уже раскрученная “Весна” – с ее словесным минимализмом и ностальгическим видеорядом Олимпиады-80. Стоит отметить и сентиментальный нойзовый “Романс” за его звуковые эффекты, и не менее романтичное “Серебро” – просто потому, что это красивая песня. На паре треков (“Имя” и “Облака”) Дельфин даже немного поиграл в Кино, а на “Кибрепанке” чуть ли не в Тату, однако это никак не отразилось на целостности концепции всего диска.
Пожалуй, “Звезда” на сегодняшний момент – самая сильная и серьезная работа Дельфина, достойная многократного прослушивания. ***
