Pantera - Far Beyond Driven

Around the Fur is Deftones’ second major label album, released in 1997. The songs “My Own Summer (Shove It)” and “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)” were both released as singles with accompanying videos.

Around the Fur is the album that put Deftones at the forefront of the 1990s alternative metal scene, after the underground, fan-base building success of their major label debut, Adrenaline.

The song “Headup” features Max Cavalera of Soulfly. The song was written by Max and Chino as a way of venting some of their pain over the loss of Max’s step son, and Chino’s friend, Dana Wells. Soulfly is taken from a portmanteau invented for the song.

Banda formada em Arlington, Texas, em 1981. O CD que posto aqui é de 1992.

One of the most influential metal albums of the 1990s, Vulgar Display of Power is said to have played a major role in defining post-thrash metal, slowing down the tempos and incorporating a harder-edged vocal style. Several songs from this release have become some of the band’s best known, such as “Fucking Hostile”, “Mouth for War”, “This Love”, and “Walk”, the latter of which reached #35 on the UK Singles Chart.

Pra quem não conhece o L7 esta foi uma banda feminina e feminista dos anos 90, que dividiram a cena musical do início dessa década junto com Nirvana, RHCP, etc. Alguns as colocam como banda grunge, rótulo do qual eu descordo, pra mim o som é ‘Heavy’. Já falamos várias vezes dessas meninas neste blog e nunca postamos nada, então deixo aqui o álbum que explodiu a banda pro mundo, o “Bricks are Heavy” de 92, disco, o qual, as fizeram tocar no Brasil no Hollywood Rock do mesmo ano, inclusive na mesma noite das bandas acima citadas (que noite!). Aqui estão os maiores clássicos da banda como ‘Wargasm’, ‘Pretend we’re Dead’ e ‘Monster’. A banda se desfez em 2000.

L7 - Bricks are Heavy_1992

Estava eu buscando a pouco a capinha deste disco do Iron Maiden que acabo de pegar para relembrar os velhos tempos e me deparo com o seguinte:

Me chamou a atenção a muito boa capa do disco. Daí começo a pensar no som dos caras, deve ser um lixo tipo, uma orquestra chamada Hand of Doom, clarinetistas  de fraque com cabelo de Steve Harris ou um tipo tocando violoncelo e batendo cabeça…
Alguém conhece?
Todavia vale pela curiosidade; massacration total…
